Nursing and Babywearing
|
Instead of focusing on retying the wrap, it is truly a joy to be able to focus on nursing your baby!
Nursing in a baby carrier does not have to be daunting or tedious. Sleepy Wrap baby carriers allow you to nurse comfortably and discreetly even while standing or walking. Thanks to the fabric, you do not have to untie the wrap or loosen it to nurse your baby! Simply widen the shoulder piece and lower the baby to a comfortable nursing position. If you desire some extra privacy, you can easily stretch the fabric to cover yourself or to cover your baby's head.

Some Nursing Tips:
- It is easier to pull your shirt down from the top to nurse.
- Try wearing nursing shirts, button downs, v-neck shirts or stretchy tank-tops to avoid having to untuck your shirt.
- In the winter layer your shirts so that you can lift the outer layer up and pull the undershirt down from the top.
- Try nursing at home at first (not wearing a shirt helps you to get a good feel for things) in the Sleepy Wrap when your baby is calm and content.
- It is actually easier to nurse while standing up with the baby in the wrap.
- Some babies prefer the Classic Upright Hold over the Hammock Hold when nursing. Listen to your baby's cues.
- If for some reason, you are having problems adjusting your baby to a good nursing position, pulling the supportive piece (with the Sleepy Wrap label) down over your baby's back and bottom (so that only the "x" is supporting your baby) may give you a little extra room to work with. You should not have to loosen the wrap to nurse your little one.
- Largebreasted moms may need to support or lift the breast with one hand. Even if it doesn't allow you to be completely "hands-free" it'll at least reduce arm strain and allow you more freedom of movement while nursing.
- You may need to help keep proper positioning of your baby's head or body while nursing if your infant is very small
- You may choose to take your baby out of the wrap all together and nurse your baby normally. If you can pull your shirt down from the top, the "x" (the two pieces of fabric that cross in the front) actually works as an amazingly discrete cover-up.
- It may take a little practicing, but learning to nurse in the Sleepy Wrap means freedom for mom and contentment for baby. It's really not as hard as you may think!
